Alcohol Awareness Month
In an effort to spread the word about
the dangers of
alcohol, Palmer Drug Abuse Program, better known as PDAP, will be
providing
free confidential alcohol screenings at numerous colleges in and around
Houston during the month
of April, which is National Alcohol Awareness Month. Young adults, ages
18-25,
are invited to attend these confidential alcohol screenings; and, if
any young person
or parent would like to talk confidentially about the challenges they
are
facing with drinking or would like more information on issues
associated with
substance abuse, they are invited to call PDAP to speak with a
counselor.

screening locations)

Corporate Challenge Golf Tournament
The Palmer Drug
Abuse Program hosted its Seventeenth Annual Corporate Challenge Golf
Tournament at Redstone Golf Club on Monday, October 5, 2009. We
had an outstanding group of players and thankfully the weather
cooperated! We are so grateful to have such a dedicated support
team who participated with us in one way or another this year.
With the
generous support of our Title Sponsor (Schlumberger) and our many other
corporate sponsors, our golf tournament raised approximately $120,000
for PDAP and will support our continuing efforts to fight youth
substance abuse in the Houston community.

2010
Chevron Houston Marathon
On January 17, 2010, over 26,000 runners participated in one
of the four Chevron Houston Marathon events (marathon, half marathon,
5K run and children's run). This premier winter event raised 1.8
million dollars for local charities and PDAP was truly honored to be
one of those charities! PDAP was one of (46) charities selected
out of (140) applicants to participate in the Chevron Houston
Marathon's Run for a Resaon Program.
This was the Palmer Drug Abuse Progrma's first year to
participate in this program and it was such a blessing. We
developed many new community partnerships, had the opportunity to build
new relationships with those in our community as well as raise
additional funds for our program. Thanks to Direct Energy,
PDAP Heroes, runners, and other supporters, PDAP's "12-Steps for a Drug Free Future "
campaign raised approximately $19,000. These funds will help the
Palmer Drug Abuse Program continue providing free prevention and
recovery programs to the youth and parents in our community desperately
seeking our help.
Thanks again to all of those who made this fundriasing
campaign a success!
