About PDAP
The
Palmer Drug Abuse Program is the oldest substance
abuse recovery program for youth in the Houston area. We provide
free
prevention, education and counseling services to young people ages
12-25 and their parents. We have been doing this since 1971, and
we
have a proven track record of success.
How It
Works
PDAP is
non-sectarian. The primary requirement for
membership is a desire to live a chemical-free life. There are no fees,
paperwork, records, or
appointments.
Based
on the 12-step program of Alcoholics Anonymous, PDAP teaches the
principles of honesty of self, acceptance, and the path to sobriety
within our daily lives, extending our love and understanding to
everyone.
We offer crisis
intervention, client assessments and referrals, 12-step support group
meetings for young people and their parents, individual and family
counseling sessions, recovery groups for teens, educational workshops,
and supervised weekend retreats and social activities.
How We Operate
PDAP is privately
funded. We accept no
government or United Way
funding. Instead, PDAP relies on the contributions of the community as
our sole
source of revenue to provide this free service to the public. There are
many ways to donate to PDAP. To find out the many ways to
contribute to PDAP click here.
The
Palmer Drug Abuse Program will not share, sell or trade a donor's
personal information without prior written permission from the donor.
